A chapter ends in MP politics as Babulal Gaur takes final bow

Bhopal, Aug 21 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stalwart and erstwhile Madhya Pradesh chief minister Babulal Gaur (89) – who scripted history by serving no less than ten terms as legislator – passed away early Wednesday at a city-based hospital following prolonged illness, particularly difficulty in breathing.
“Mr Gaur served people for decades. From the Jana Sangh days, he worked constantly to strengthen our party. As Minister and Chief Minister he undertook many efforts to transform the state. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om shanti,” Premier Narendra Modi conveyed via social media.
Amid rainfall, the pyre was lit by Mr Gaur’s grandson at the Subhash Nagar crematorium here accompanied by full state honours. Among those present were a galaxy of leaders including BJP state In-charge Vinay P Sahasrabuddhe, party Vice President Prabhat Jha, Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Governor Lalji Tandon, Assembly Leader of the Opposition Gopal Bhargava, BJP Vice President and former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP state head Rakesh Singh, ex-ministers Narottam Mishra and Umashankar Gupta.

Four charred to death in collision between car and canter on GT Road in Aligarh
