Around 54.86 pc votes polled in 2nd phase of LS poll in UP

Lucknow, Apr 26 (UNI) Approximately 54.86 per cent of more than over 1.67 crore voters in Uttar Pradesh exercised their franchise in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections held amidst tight security on Friday, poll officer said here.
In the second phase of Lok Sabha elections that will decide the fate of 91 candidates, including 10 females, from the state, poll officials said maximum 64.02 per cent votes were polled in Amroha, whereas in Mathura from where sitting MP Hema Malini is seeking reelection for the third term, witnessed only 49.29 per cent voting.
According to the Election Commission, 56.62 per cent of votes polled in Aligarh, 55.97 per cent in Baghpat, 55.79 per cent in Bulandshahr, 53.21 per cent in Gautam Buddha Nagar, 49.65 per cent in Ghaziabad and 58.7 per cent in Meerut.
