Bengal medical services hit as docs take out march protesting rape-murder of colleague

Kolkata, Aug 12 (UNI) Medical services across West Bengal were on Monday affected as senior medicos expressed solidarity with the striking junior doctors of the state-run RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in the city where a 2nd-year post-graduate female trainee was allegedly raped and brutality murdered early Friday, sources said.
The services even in private hospitals and nursing homes were hit as the medics joined in a march along with the civic body towards north Kolkata.
The medics under the banner of the Joint Platform of Doctors Forum have demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and exemplary punishment of the guilty in the heinous crime, which shook not only the doctors in the state-run hospital but also the civil society.
