BJP, BJD spar over budget allocation to Odisha's rail infrastructure

Bhubaneswar, Feb 4 (UNI) The BJP and the BJD are engaged in a war of words over the allocation of funds in the union budget for the development of Railway infrastructure in Odisha.
While the BJP said it has allocated a record Rs 10012 crore against Rs 8400 crore demanded by the state government for the development of railways infrastructure in Odisha , the BJD said the allocation of funds is far less in comparison to the revenue Railway is collecting from the state.
BJD Spokesperson Sreemayee Mishra told a press conference here on Saturday that during the last nine years, the Railway has collected a revenue of around Rs two lakh crore from the state but not allocated adequate funds for the development of railway infrastructure in the state.
