Chakma council village polls conclude smoothly, BJP wins seven seats uncontested

Aizawl, Mar 12 (UNI) Voting for 88 village councils (VCs) under the Chakma Autonomous District Council (CADC) was conducted smoothly on Wednesday, with polling stations closing at 4 PM in most areas, State Election Commissioner H. Lalthlangliana said.
The election, which began at 7 AM, saw a voter turnout of 74.19 percent, with thousands of enthusiastic voters casting their ballots to decide the fate of 977 candidates.
Polling was largely incident-free, though voting in Saizawh West village began late due to an error in the ballot papers, which required reprinting. To compensate for the delay, the State Election Commission extended polling in the village until 6 PM.
