Chief Minister should come out with clarity on Sabarimala: Mullappaly Ramachandran

Kozhikode, March 28 (UNI) The Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president Mullappally Ramachandran has demanded that the state Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan clarify his position on women entry in Sabarimala without shying away from the issue by saying it is a non-issue now.
Addressing the media in Vadakara near here after meeting K K Rema, the UDF-supported candidate of the Revolutionary Marxist Party of India from Vadakara Assembly constituency, the KPCC chief said they should give a clarity on Sabarimala issue. "The CPI(M) has no clear-cut stand on the issue. It has not been an election issue till recently. But the changing stance of the Marxist party has made it an election issue now. This makes it an election issue," he said.
The CPI(M) general secretary had recently said the action taken by the LDF Government in Sabarimala was proper and in tune with the party's accepted principles on gender equality. The CPI secretary Kannam Rajendran was also of the same view on the issue. That apart, the CPI veteran leader Annie Raja had recently asserted that the left parties would stick to its accepted principle on equality for women adding that the utterances of a minister won't be treated as the policy of the left parties.
