Cong asks Karnataka Speaker to disqualify Janardhan Reddy

Bengaluru, March 27 (UNI) Questioning the legality of Gangavati MLA Janardhana Reddy's actions regarding the merger of KRPP with the BJP, Karnataka Congress leaders Ramesh Baby and Ramachandrappa on Wednesday sought his disqualification for violating Schedule 10 of the Indian Constitution, which pertains to anti-defection laws.
According to the petitioners, the Karnataka Rajya Pragati Paksha (KRPP) was an unrecognised and unregistered party at the time of Reddy's submission of Form 24A to the Election Commission in March 2023.
They argued that since Reddy was not an office-bearer of KRPP at that time, his decision to merge KRPP with the BJP lacked proper approval from the Speaker and the Election Commission. This, they contend, violates Schedule 10 of the Constitution about anti-defection laws.
