Congress makes 20 promises for Tripura elections

Agartala, Feb 6 (UNI) Claiming the commitments practicable and feasible, Tripura Pradesh
Congress on Monday released it’s manifesto with 20 poll promises for the upcoming elections
to the state assembly to be held on February 16.
Releasing the manifesto, senior Congress leader and MLA Sudip Roybarman said that the party
is committed to establish rule of law and zero-tolerance against crimes related to women if they
vote to power in the election. Congress is fighting jointly with Left Front in this election and LF
has also released a manifesto separately.
The party promised free medical treatment for the poor, setting up of a strong Lokayukta adding
more teeth to the act to prevent corruption and institute investigation into the allegations of
corruption reported in last five years, Rs 50,000 for wedding of girls belonging from BPL families.
The free electric supply to each of the households up to 150 units will be ensured by plucking power tapping and transmission loss, 14 essential items would be provided for all through public distribution system, employment opportunities would be created at least for 50,000 people including filling up of the all vacant posts in the government departments, the manifesto pointed out.
The effort has been made to pass the 125th constitution amendment bill pending for long years in the parliament to empower Tripura ADC; the old pension scheme of government employees will be bring back into operation, compensation will be given to the victims of non-banking financial companies and six LPG cylinders to each family would be provided at the subsidy of Rs 500 on each, Congress promised.

Lambasting the BJP over unfulfilled promises enlisted in the Vision Document 2018, Roy Barman said, “We didn’t launch the poll manifesto to lure the people like that of BJP which has failed to fulfill the 299 promises committed before the elections. We promise whatever is possible and not make a vision to cheat the people.”
Talking about the agreement of seat-sharing with CPI(M) for merely 13 seats, Roy Barman said,
“The decision and agreement was for the greater cause of uprooting the BJP from power and not
for personal interest of the party of politics. People have suffered a lot for five years under the autocratic governance of BJP – I am sure people will bring the Left-Congress government to
power and all so-called stalwarts will face humiliating defeat.”
