Mumbai, Feb 22 (UNI) Lok Sabha member from Dadra and Nagar Haveli Mohan S Delkar was found dead in a hotel here on Monday, police said.
As per the police, the body of the 58-year-old legislator was found inside a room of Hotel Sea Green South, a sea-facing hotel on Marine Drive in south Mumbai.
A suicide note, written in Gujarati, has also been recovered from the site, police said.His body has been sent for post mortem.
Police are investigating when and why he arrived in Mumbai and checked into the south-Mumbai hotel, who was with him or he interacted with, and other details.
“The Marine Drive Police team is at the spot. A suicide note has also been recovered… Investigation is being carried out. Prima facie, it’s a case of hanging, but the exact cause of death will be known only after the post—mortem is conducted,” said a Mumbai Police official Spokesperson told the mediapersons here.
Delkar was the leader of the Bharatiya Navshakti Party. He was elected to the lower house in 2019 as an Independent candidate from the UT. This was his seventh term in the Lok Sabha. In the previous six terms, he represented the Congress party.
He is survived by wife, son and a daughter.
