DC imposes ban on organizing and publishing exit polls

Solan, Apr 18 (UNI) District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Solan Manmohan Sharma said on Thursday that in view of the Lok Sabha general elections, guidelines have been issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding exit polls.
As per the instructions, in exercise of the powers under sub-section (1) of Section 126A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, by the Election Commission in view of the provisions of
sub-section (2) of this section, at 0700 hrs on April 19, 2024 (Friday), and during the period of 1830 hrs on June 1 (Saturday), any type of exit poll will be organized, and any type of exit poll will be printed in connection with the general elections of the Lok Sabha and the elections and by-elections of various legislative assemblies to be held along with it, or is prohibited from publishing or publicizing its results through electronic media or disseminating the same in any other manner.
