Extinct species of Tiyur found in chancel after 179 years

Shimla, Apr 16 (UNI) Botanist Ashutosh Sharma of Himachal Pradesh has discovered an extinct flower species Tiyur , whose scientific name is Impatiens violidis ,179 years after it was last seen in 1844 in the Chanshal forests of Shimla.
Ashutosh Sharma who is pursuing a PhD from the University of Transdisciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU-FRLHT), Bengaluru said Dr. MP Edgeworth discovered this species of Tiyur in 1844 and recorded it, but after that, this species was never seen.
Ashutosh said that he had been searching for this species since 2017. This species is not found anywhere else except Chanchal, as it is found in an area of 27 square kilometers. Flowers are also present in this genus, but its special thing is that unlike other flowers, it does not have a spur, i.e., a tail. He was searching for this species for four years, and in September 2023, he found it in the forest of deodar and black tosh in Janglikh, Chanshal. This is a two- to four-foot plant
