Four ultras killed, Pak militant captured alive in Kashmir

Srinagar, Aug 27 (UNI) In the second such incident in this month, a Pakistani militant was today arrested by security forces during an encounter which left four of his associates dead near the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector of Baramulla district. "A Pakistani militant was arrested in the ongoing operation in Uri sector. His four associates were killed in the operation which was launched yesterday after a specific information about presence of militants," an army officer said. He is the second Pakistani militant arrested in Jammu and Kashmir this month. Earlier on August 5, Pakistani militant Naveed of Faisalabad was arrested after he was overpowered by villagers while trying to escape after an ambush on a BSF convoy in Udhampur district. Two BSF personnel and a militant were killed in the incident. "We have eliminated three militants in the fresh gun-battle today and another yesterday. One militant was also captured alive," Defence Spokesman Col N N Joshi told UNI. However, he refused to provide further details, saying the operation is still continuing. Official sources said the captured militant is a Pakistani National in his early 20's and was identified as Sajjad alias Abu Abaidullah, a resident of Baluchistan in Pakistan. The militant was part of a group which infiltrated into this side from across the border in Uri sector and were confronted by the security forces yesterday. After the initial encounter which left a militant dead, security forces expanded the operation to Rafiabad belt to plug all escape routes, the sources said. The militant is being shifted to Srinagar for sustained interrogation, the sources said. The sources also said the identity and group affiliation of the slain militants are awaited. UNI XC CH1730
