HSI/India conducts wildlife protection workshop for Telangana Forest officers

Hyderabad, April 24 (UNI), Humane Society International (HSI)/India, in partnership with the Telangana State Forest Academy, organized a half-day workshop on Wednesday aimed at sensitizing approximately 80 forest officers on the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, including the recent 2022 amendment.
The workshop's objective was to equip forest officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively combat wildlife crimes such as illegal trade, hunting, and poaching and mitigate human-animal conflicts, according to a statement.
Sumanth Bindumadhav and Shubhra Sotie from HSI/India’s wildlife team led discussions and provided training on various aspects, including investigating wildlife crimes, applying relevant sections of the act, interpreting the law in different scenarios, and addressing the challenges of human-wildlife conflict and its resolution.
