Indonesia aims for 100 pct waste management by 2029

Jakarta, Mar 10 (UNI) The Indonesian government announced on Monday that the country is set to achieve 100 percent waste management by 2029, a target outlined in its 2025-2029 National Medium-Term Development Plan.
Hanif Faisol Nurofiq, Indonesia's Minister of Environment and Forestry, said that one of the key efforts to meet this target is the closure of final disposal sites still using open dumping systems. He revealed that at least 343 landfills operating with open dumping systems would be shut down.
"The first phase will involve the closure of 37 landfills, which we aim to complete within six months," Nurofiq said during a press conference.
