Kanti Velugu scheme to screen 1.5 cr people in second phase resume from Jan 18 across Telangana state: Health Min Harish

Hyderabad, Nov 29 (UNI) The second phase of the prestigious ‘Kanti Velugu’ programme , an eye screening scheme to achieve ‘ avoidable blindness free’ state, will be launched on January 18 across Telangana state.
The second phase will cover 1.5 crore individuals and distribute 55 lakh spectacles among needy patients during the eye screening to be held over a period of 100-days, at a cost of Rs 200 crores, state Health Minister T.Sharish Rao said here on Tuesday.
The government has already released the amount for the smooth conduct of the second-phase of the unique eye screening programme, the Minister said.
