Bengaluru, Jan 29 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Sunday said Kshatriyas are responsible for the safety of Hindu society.
Speaking after inaugurating a mammoth convention of the Kshatriya Samaj organised by Karnataka Kshatriya Federation, he said, "The Kshatriya samaj is responsible for the safety of Hindu society. The valiant kings like Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Samrat Ashok, Rana Pratap Singh and Shivaji Maharaj had ruled the nation.
"Likewise, Swami Vivekananda was also a Kshatriya who showed the world that even this community knows how to carry the sword of knowledge," he said.
Bommai said the government would consider the community's demands to set up a Kshatriya Development Corporation and provide financial assistance to build a community hall.
During accession of India, hundreds of the Kshatriya kings relinquished their posts and agreed to be part of India, he said.
BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh, MP PC Mohan and others were present.
