Last leg of Rahul’s BJY resumes from Srinagar’s Pantha chowk

Srinagar, Jan 29 (UNI) The last leg of 135-day-long Rahul Gandhi led Bharat Jodo Yatra resumed from Srinagar’s Pantha Chowk area on Sunday amid tight security arrangements, officials said.
The Bharat Jodo yatra was started from Kanyakumari on September 7 and will culminate with a function at the AICC headquarters in Srinagar on Monday.
The leaders from the regional parties are likely to join the Yatra during the day.
Rahul Gandhi will also hoist flat at historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar today after taking a break at the cantonment area of Sonwar Chowk before it will move towards the Cheshmashahi road on the banks of Dal Lake during the day.
The day will end in the evening with a dinner being hosted by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge at Hotel Taj Vivanta situated on a hill lock in Srinagar overlooking the Srinagar city and Dal Lake.
The Srinagar Traffic police on Saturday issued a traffic advisory asking people to avoid certain routes while traveling in Srinagar today in view of Bharat Jodo Yatra.
All traffic movement was suspended from Pantha chowk towards Dalgate and motorists were asked to use the NHW-Nowgam-Natripora-Nowgam-Sanatnagar-Hyderpora Bypass to reach their destinations.
The road from Konhakhan, Dalgate, Hotel Lalit, and Nishat towards Nehrupark, and from Brein Nishat towards Boulevard-Gupkar Road were also closed for the vehicles to give safe passage to the Yatra.
As per the order general public and tourists have been advised to use alternative routes to reach the Srinagar International Airport to avoid any inconvenience.
