Thane, Jun 7 (UNI) Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Legislative Council, Praveen Darekar, has slammed the state government over its handling of the corona crisis saying that it is in a state of confusion since the outbreak of the disease in the state.
Addressing the media after taking stock of the COVID-19 situation in Bhiwandi town on Saturday, he claimed that the pandemic.is out of control because there is no co-ordination between the government agencies.
He also claimed that Chief Minister Uddhav Thackery wanted to cover up the failure of the state government and hence he was repeatedly accusing the BJP of playing politics.
He blamed the government for not taking the opposition into confidence during this crisis.
The BJP leader also blamed the government for adding beds in the hospitals and quarantine centres without providing any accessories like ventilators, oxygen and manpower to tackle the situation as per the need.
He said that amidst increasing cases of corona in the state, the lack of health facilities posed a serious problem.
There are not enough doctors, nurses and health workers available in hospitals to treat the patients. he pointed.
Mr Darekar further said, "If there is no proper coordination between the departments and control on the pandemic, we will surely take the government to task as the opposition."
While expressing the Opposition's willingness to co-operate with the government in this difficult times, he told the government to eradicate any lapses, shortages and mistakes in handling of the crisis as it concerned the life of the citizens.
He also asked the government to take care that the number of corona cases does not increase in the comings days.
