Srinagar, Apr 23 (UNI) Security forces on Friday averted a major tragedy when they detected and defused a powerful Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants to target security forces in south Kashmir district of Pulwama, a police spokesman said.
He said a Road Opening Party (ROP) during a routine checking detected a powerful IED planted at Circle Road on Tahab road in Pulwama.
The entire area was immediately sealed and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was summoned, he said adding the IED was defused without causing any damage.
If it had not been detected and defused it would have been caused major damage to life and property.
