Meghalaya CM urges voters to exercise adult franchise

Shillong, Apr 19 (UNI) Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday urged voters to exercise their franchise in record numbers as the single-phase Lok Sabha polls began at 7 am on Friday.
"I drove myself to the polling station this morning with the hope of casting my vote, but I was surprised that electorates had already lined up. I am in line to cast my vote at 6:30 am. I urge every citizen to come out and exercise their democratic right,” Conrad posted in X, formerly Twitter.
Sitting Congress MP Vincent, who is seeking re-election for the fourth consecutive term, was the first voter among the six candidates from Shillong Lok Sabha seats to cast his vote in Lamyrsiang—Polling Station under Sutnga Saipung assembly constituency.
