Mob lynching: UP police to create Whatsapp group of eminent citizens at each station limit to counter fake news

Lucknow, July 19 (UNI) To check spread of fake news and mob lynching, Uttar Pradesh police will form social media groups of 250 volunteers on WhatsApp in each police station limits to check the authenticity of the news and prevent fake news from spreading,
Addressing mediapersons here at police headquarter, Director General of Police OP Singh said the initiative will connect all influential persons of a particular areas on a single platform where they will help in maintaining peace and harmony.
In past few days, some persons were lynched by violent mobs in UP and other states on fake rumours. Even, the Supreme Court, this week said strongly-- "mob lynching can't be new normal''.
