Modi, Rajinikanth mourn death of actor Dwarakish

Bengaluru, Apr 17 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi and actor Rajinikanth expressed deep sorrow over the demise of veteran Kannada actor Dwarakish, who passed away on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest at his residence in Bengaluru. He was 81 years old.
Prime Minister Modi took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor, acknowledging his remarkable contributions to the film industry.
"Dwarakish's contributions to the film industry are immense, spanning decades of unforgettable performances and groundbreaking films," PM Modi wrote.
"His ability to captivate audiences and support young talent gave a glimpse of his multifaceted role in shaping Kannada cinema. Saddened by his passing away. We will always remember his extraordinary journey. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti," PM Modi said yesterday.
Dwarakish was a beloved figure in the Kannada film industry, renowned for his comedic talent that earned him fame across Karnataka. He appeared in approximately 100 films and was actively involved in the production and direction of around fifty movies.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah also expressed his grief over the loss of the iconic actor. "Saddened to hear the news of the death of ‘Prachanda Kulla’ Dwarakish," Siddaramaiah wrote on social media.
"Despite sharing the screen with great actors like Dr. Rajkumar and Dr. Vishnuvardhan, he made his mark in the minds of the audience through his humorous acting. Kannada cinema is poorer with the death of Dwarakish. May his soul rest in peace, and may his family and fans find strength to bear the pain," he added.
Actor Rajinikanth, a dear friend of Dwarakish, mourned the loss and described his sudden demise as painful. "The demise of my long-time dear friend Dwarakish is very painful to me," Rajinikanth posted on social media. "Starting his career as a comedian, he raised himself to be a big producer and director. Fond memories come to my mind. My heartfelt condolences to his family and dear ones."
The passing of Dwarakish has left a significant void in the Kannada film industry, with tributes pouring in from colleagues, fans, and political leaders alike. His legacy as a versatile actor and visionary filmmaker will undoubtedly continue to inspire and resonate with future generations.
