UP leads in river dolphin population

Lucknow, March 3 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the leading state in the country in terms of population of the river dolphins.
According to the river dolphin estimation report released for the first time in the country in the seventh meeting of the National Wildlife Board chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Gir National Park in Gujarat on Monday, the total number of river dolphins in the country is 6,327. UP tops the list with the highest number of dolphins.
UP led with 2,397, followed by Bihar (2,220), West Bengal (815) and Assam (635). The survey spanned 3,150 days, covering 8,500 km across 28 rivers in eight states.
