TN: Gold worth Rs 1.22 cr seized from passenger at Trichy International airport

Tiruchirapalli (Tamil Nadu), Feb 28 (UNI) Sleuths of the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs department seized 1.39 kilogram of gold valued at more than Rs 1.22 crore from a passenger arrived from Sharjah at Tiruchirapalli International Airport.
Customs officials said here on Friday that a team of AIU officials conducted a search on passengers arriving from Sharjah through Air India Express flight on Thursday night.
The officials detained a passenger possessing an ice crusher in the luggage on suspicion and upon examination the yellow metal with 24-karat purity was found hidden inside the ice crusher appliance.
