Bengaluru, Mar 7 (UNI) Top retired bureaucrats in Karnataka have written a letter to Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar requesting him to put the administration of oath to the newly-elected member of Rajya Sabha Syed Naseer Hussain on hold till the completion of judicial proceedings in the Pro-Pakistan sloganeering on the occasion of his electoral victory.
The letter said the sentiments of the people of Karnataka have been severely affected as the newly-elected Rajya Sabha member did not resist 'Pakistan Zindabad' slogans raised by his chosen supporters inside the precincts of the state legislative assembly.
This has also shattered the image of all the law-abiding Kannadigas, the letter said.
On the contrary, Hussain threatened the media around him with objectionable words and rudely shouting at them not to report the incident thereby supporting the open slogans of his supporters, it alleged.
A suo moto police complaint has been registered by the Vidhana Soudha Police and three supporters of Hussain have been arrested and an investigation is in progress, it said.
Hussain who was claiming that his supporters had not at all made anti-national slogans eventually proved wrong as soon as the FSL report confirmed the heinous acts, the letter said.
Prima facie it is clear that Hussain is directly involved in these anti-national slogans and liable for prosecution, and this tacit support is not only shocking but detrimental to the interests of the nation, it said.
"In this connection, We appeal to your kind self (Dhankar) to take cognizance of the anti-national behavior of a newly-elected member of Rajya Sabha in the open glare of the public and also provide your valuable guidance to prevent any recurrence of such incidents in future," the letter said.
The timely action in this regard will end the nefarious designs of those who are determined to harbour such anti-national activities and it will curb the negative trend of shouting slogans in favour of the enemy country, it said.
"Hussain has got elected to Rajya Sabha for a consecutive second term and he ought to have taken enough care in guiding his supporters in celebrating his election victory, in protecting unity and integrity of Bharat," the letter said.
"Therefore, we sincerely request your kind self to put the administration of oath to the newly elected member of Rajya Sabha Syed Naseer Hussain on hold till the completion of judicial proceedings and absolve said member on his involvement in the entire episode.
We request your kind self to initiate appropriate action in this regard on priority," it said.
