Mumbai Indians set 180-run target for RR

Jaipur, April 22 (UNI) In the 38th match of IPL 2024 at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Monday, Mumbai Indians put up a challenging total of 179 runs against Rajasthan Royals, thanks to a stellar partnership between Tilak Verma and Nehal Wadhera.
After winning the toss, Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya elected to bat first but faced early setbacks with the loss of wickets. Rohit Sharma fell early, managing just 6 runs, followed by Ishan Kishan who departed without opening his account. Suryakumar Yadav contributed 10 runs before his dismissal.
However, Verma and Wadhera turned the tide for Mumbai Indians with their explosive partnership. Verma showcased his batting prowess, scoring 65 runs off 45 balls, which included five fours and three sixes. Wadhera was equally impressive, smashing 49 runs off just 24 balls with three fours and four sixes.
Their partnership of 99 runs for the fifth wicket provided Mumbai Indians with the momentum needed to set a competitive target of 180 runs for Rajasthan Royals.
In response, Rajasthan Royals' bowler Sandeep Sharma was the pick of the bowlers, claiming five crucial wickets to restrict Mumbai Indians. Trent Boult chipped in with two wickets, while Avesh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal took one wicket each as Mumbai Indians concluded their innings at 179 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 20 overs.
