Over 116,000 people evacuated in Kazakhstan since March due to floods

Astana, Apr 17 (UNI) Over 116,000 people, including 40,000 children, have been evacuated from dangerous flood zones in Kazakhstan since the beginning of March, the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Wednesday.

"A total of 116,731 people have been rescued and evacuated since the beginning of the flooding, with 40,666 of them being children. 16,070 people have returned to their homes," Yerasyl Saipash, a senior officer of the ministry's Committee of Civil Defence and Military Units, told an online briefing.
