Germany cuts military aid to Ukraine over budget policy - Reports

Berlin, Aug 17 (UNI) Germany has cut military aid to Ukraine, the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reported on Saturday, citing the government's budget.
The previously agreed aid will still be delivered to Ukraine, but any new requests from the defense ministry will not be approved due to austerity measures under an order of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, the report read. On August 5, German Finance Minister Christian Lindner sent a letter to Defense Minister Boris Pistorius with a corresponding request, the report read.
The suspension is already in effect, which may worsen situation for Ukraine on the battlefield, the report read, adding that this year the support will be halved and in 2027 reduced to less than a tenth of the current volume.
