NHRC directs Kendrapara DM to grant Rs.5 lakh compensation to a minor rape victim

Kendrapara, Feb 3 (UNI)The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the district Magistrate-cum- collector of Kendrapara to grant a compensation of Rs.5 lakh to a minor raped victim as applicable under the NALSA scheme.
Acting on the petition filed by Sagar Jena, an RTI activist of Endor village under Kendrapada Sadar police station , the Apex Human Rights panel of India passed the order on February 2.
The petitioner, brought to the notice of NHRC on the rape of a girl student of a Pattamundai –based Ashram School,sought action against the accused and provide compensation to the minor victim .
