PIL filed in SC, on horrific Balasore train accident, seeks high-level probe led by former SC Judge

New Delhi, June 4 (UNI) A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed by lawyer Vishal Tiwari, before the Supreme Court seeking a high-level probe, by an expert panel led by former SC Judge into the horrendous Balasore train accident in Odisha, which claimed 288 lives and injuring 1,000 people.

The lawyer, Vishal Tiwari, said, he has filed the PIL before the Supreme Court into the horrendous Balasore train accident."I will mention the matter before the vacation Bench of the Supreme Court tomorrow or day after tomorrow, for hearing the PIL urgently," Tiwari said.
The PIL filed in the Top Court by lawyer, Tiwari, over the Balasore Train accident tragedy, sought a judicial review of the safety parameters of railways and implementation of 'Kavach'.
"I seek directions for the implementation of Automatic Train Protection (ATP) System called, Kavach Protection System in Indian Railways with immediate effect to ensure public safety," the 54-page petition, filed before the Supreme Court, revealed.The petitioner, Tiwari also sought directions from the Apex Court to the respondents -- Central government and Railway Ministry -- to set up an enquiry Commission headed by the Retired Justice of the Supreme Court of India and conclude its probe into the Odisha train accident that took place, on June 02, 2023, in a time bound period of two months."The panel should reach into the root cause of the accident and submit its report before the Apex Court," Tiwari said.
