New Delhi, Jul 13 (UNI) India's retail inflation for June stood at 6.09 per cent due to increase in prices of various food items, according to the data released by the government on Monday.
The data for the months of April and May was not released by the government, citing insufficient data collection amid the outbreak of Novel Coronavirus.
The Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) in June stood at 7.87 per cent, compared to 9.20 per cent in May, the Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation said.
Retail inflation for Food and Beverages stood at 7.29 per cent, while for Pan, tobacco and intoxicants, was at 9.7 per cent in June.
The inflation rate for Clothing and footwear was 3.53 per cent, while for Housing, it was 3.55 per cent.
The data collected, however, did not meet the adequacy criteria for generating robust estimates of CPIs at the state-level, it added.
April CPI combined inflation was registered at 7.22 per cent as per imputed data, while the May CPI combined inflation was 6.27 per cent, as per the imputed data.
The all India indices have been compiled by considering a common market at the national level in both Rural and Urban sectors separately.
The data collected, however, did not meet the adequacy criteria for generating robust estimates of CPIs at the State-level.
In view of the preventive measures and announcement of nation-wide lockdown by the Government to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic, the price collection of Consumer Price Index (CPI) through personal visits of price collectors was suspended.
