Terrorists have to be killed, if not surrender: J&K Dy CM

Jammu, Jul 30 (UNI) Asserting that combat operations are routine in Kashmir Valley, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh today said that terrorists have to be killed, if they do not surrender. ''Anti-terrorism operations will continue and terrorism has to be dealt with iron hands in the state,'' Dr Singh told reporters, during his visit to Katra town in Reasi district. ''There is no option left out with the security forces, either to eliminate or gun down the terrorist, if they do not surrender,'' the Deputy Chief Minister replied to a query, post Hizb Commander Burhan Wani's elimination by the security forces on July 8 in Pulwama district. He said, ''it was an anti-terrorism operation and Burhan Wani was among the four Pakistan-originated LeT terrorists killed in it. ''After his killing, damage was done by some of the elements in the Valley, but the situation was controlled thereafter,'' he said and added that identification of the slain terrorists cannot be ascertained immediately and in this case too, he (Burhan) was identified after the operation was over. The Deputy Chief Minister said, ''had it been known earlier that Burhan was among the holed up militants, preventive measures must have been taken to check violence in the Valley. ''Security forces and police was not aware about Burhan's presence in the gun fight, this is what they told the Government,'' the Deputy Chief Minister added. Over 3000 people, including the security personnel, got injured and around 45 got killed in violence that hit Kashmir Valley as protests broke out after the death of Burhan Wani. UNI VBH RJ 2144
