Atishi demands action against DJB CEO after woman dies in water dispute in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) Citing the callous inaction of Delhi Jal Board officers, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi on Sunday demanded the Delhi LG VK Saxena to suspend the CEO of Delhi Jal Board (DJB) within 24 hours following the death of a woman due to violence over water shortage in the national capital.
In a letter, Atishi urged Saxena to institute an independent inquiry into the acts of omission and commission of the Chief Secretary, as well as officers of the Finance Department, and Urban Development Department claiming that their actions have led to DJB being starved of funds in FY2023-24 and therefore unable to execute essential works like installation of borewells.
She further asked to initiate disciplinary action against all officers - both in DJB and other departments of GNCTD- responsible for the non-augmentation of water supply for the summers of 2024.
