New Delhi, April 12 (UNI) Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Leader and MLC K Kavitha has been sent to three-day CBI custody by a Delhi Court in the Excise Policy case on Friday.
Special Judge Kaweri Baweja after hearing arguments on behalf of CBI and Defence Counsel passed the order remanding Kavitha to CBI custody till April 15.
K Kavitha, an MLC in Telangana and daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, had been arrested by ED in a money laundering case linked to the alleged Delhi excise policy scam on March 15.
Kavitha is in the judicial custody at Tihar jail after her arrest by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). CBI officials after obtaining permission from a Special Court had questioned Kavitha inside the jail.
Counsel for CBI submitted before the court that Kavitha was evasive in her replies and not cooperating with the Investigating Agency.
Te Investigating Agency submitted that on the basis of statements, its indicates the involvement of Kavitha's role in the scam and therefore five days CBI custody is required to unearth the conspiracy.
The CBI alleged that she gave the money to Vijay Nair who is a close aide of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Kavitha opposed the plea of CBI by submitting that CBI is asking wrong and same old questions.

Nitesh Rana, Counsel for Kavitha accused the CBI of violating Kavitha's fundamental rights by saying the arrest is illegal.
