‘Baby’s screenplay shortlisted for Core Collection at Oscars Academy Library

New Delhi, Apr 18 (UNI) After earning box office success and applause from critics, the action thriller ‘Baby’ has now earned another feather in its cap with the Oscars Academy approaching the filmmakers for inclusion of its screenplay in the Core Collection of the Academy's library. In what is an ‘icing on the cake’ for the film, starring Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Rana Daggubati and others, the makes of the Neeraj Pandey directed film has been approached by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (the institution behind the awards popularly known as the 'Oscars') for inclusion of its screenplay in the Core Collection of the Academy's library. The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences has requested for Neeraj Pandey’s ‘Baby’ screenplay for its collection which will reside at the Margaret Herrick Library. Following this honour, the Oscar library will add the screenplay to its collection, which is accessible to students, filmmakers, writers, actors and others from the field of cinema, for the purpose of research and development. The Library is widely considered as a reservoir of some of the best work in cinema across the world and each year only a chosen few films make it to this elite collection. 'Baby', produced by Bhushan Kumar, Shital Bhatia and Vikram Malhotra, released worldwide on January 23. The film was critically lauded and won accolades at the box office worldwide. Reacting to the honour, director Neeraj Pandey, who also wrote the story and screenplay, said, "The true appreciation of content is when it appeals universally. This is a great honor for Baby and I am happy that our film has been recognized in international non-diaspora markets as well". Said the film’s Producer Bhushan Kumar, “I am over overwhelmed that the ‘Baby’ screenplay has been selected by Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences to be a part of their collection. It feels good when people not only in India but overseas recognize and appreciate your work and use it as a source for cinematic study”. Shital Bhatia of Friday Filmworks, the producer of the film, said, ''We are delighted with this news! Given the fact that only a few films make it to this shortlist every year, Baby's success has only gotten sweeter". UNI AR SY RSA 1002
