SC issues contempt notice to DDA vice-chairman for unauthorised tree felling

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Wednesday issued a show-cause notice to the vice-chairman of Delhi Development Authority (DDA) for the felling of more than 1,000 trees for construction of an approach road between Chattarpur Road and SAARC University near Maidan Garhi, New Delhi.
A bench comprising Justices B R Gavai and Sandeep Mehta issued show-cause notice to the vice-chairman of DDA and asked him to reply why an action for committing contempt of the order of this court be not taken against him.
The court said that the felling of trees for construction of the road was carried out by DDA despite there being an order from the court not to do so.
