Srinagar, Jul 12 (UNI) The death toll due to COVID-19 has risen to 175 in Jammu and Kashmir with six fresh fatalities in the Union Territory, official sources said on Sunday.
The deceased include a 55-year-old woman from Ganderbal, a 60-year-old man from Srinagar, an 80-year-old woman and a 47-year-old-old woman from Kulgam, a 58-year-old from Jammu and an 80-year-old man from Handwara.
With these deaths, 139 people have lost their lives due to infection in 38 days, and 159 people in 52 day in J&K, where the COVID-19 positive cases have surpassed 10,000-mark.
Official sources said that a 55-year-old woman, a resident of Kangan in Ganderbal, was admitted to S K Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) on July 9 for Intra-cranial space occupying lesion (a mass lesion in the cranial cavity with a diverse aetiology like benign or malignant neoplasm, inflammatory or parasitic lesion, haematoma, or arterio-venous malformation). “The woman, who had tested positive for COVID-19, died on Sunday morning,” they said.
Another patient, an 80-year-old woman from Budoo in Kulgam, suffered a massive heart attack and died at around 0200 hrs on Sunday at SKIMS. “The patient, who had tested positive for COVID-19, was admitted to the hospital for Acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) and Community Acquired Pneumonia (CAP),” they said.
