Palm Sunday observed with reverence across Mizoram

Aizawl, Apr 13 (UNI) Christians across Mizoram commemorated Palm Sunday with devotion and reverence, marking the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, an event observed on the Sunday before Easter that heralds the beginning of the Holy Week.
In the early hours of the morning, members of Protestant denominations took to the streets, waving palm leaves and chanting "Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord, even the King of Israel!" as they marched in organised processions. Participants carried palm fronds symbolising the palm branches laid before Christ during his entry into Jerusalem, recited scripture verses and sang traditional hymns.
Catholic congregations observed the occasion with equal solemnity, though their processions were typically held en route to the church for the ‘Holy Mass’. For Catholics, Palm Sunday marks the onset of the most sacred week in the Christian calendar, often referred to as the Week of Mourning, culminating in the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
