Five including BDO sentenced for abetting suicide

Patna, Apr 3 (UNI) An Additional Session Judge Chhedi Ram sentenced five people, including the deceased's wife and his relative, a Block Development Officer (BDO), to three years of rigorous imprisonment along with a fine of Rs 10,000 each for abetting an Engineer Vishal Kumar Singh to commit suicide.
After hearing the case, the judge pronounced his verdict declaring the deceased's wife Preeti, father-in-law Dilip Kumar Singh, brother-in-law Priya Ranjan Kumar Singh, cousin Prashant Kumar, and Sanjay Kumar Singh guilty under Section 306 of the Indian Penal Code.
If the fine amount is not paid, the culprits will have to undergo a separate sentence of six months' imprisonment.
