Hyd : Vice-President Dhankhar stresses importance of R&D at Bharat Biotech facility

Hyderabad, Apr 26 (UNI) Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar highlighted the pivotal role of Research and Development (R&D) as the backbone of both the economy and the nation during his visit to the Bharat Biotech facility in Hyderabad on Friday.

Addressing the audience, Dhankhar emphasized the significance of innovation in medicine development, stating that R&D efforts go beyond mere execution and represent the highest form of contribution to humanity. He encouraged scientists not to be discouraged by temporary failures in their pursuit to serve humanity through science and research.

Highlighting India's contribution to international vaccine efforts, including the donation of Covaxin through the Vacvine Matri initiative, Dhankhar reiterated India's commitment to the principle of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".

Dhankhar called for corporate leaders to support institutions in promoting research and development to foster innovation, particularly in disruptive technologies. He praised the increased credibility of Padma Awards in recent times, emphasizing that they are now given to deserving individuals rather than being influenced by patronage or event management.

Addressing economic concerns, Dhankhar criticized the drain of foreign exchange due to unnecessary imports, urging for a focus on promoting local products and entrepreneurial opportunities.

Highlighting the importance of alumni networks, Dhankhar urged alumni to form strong networks through think tanks to contribute to the nation's growth and development.

Advocating for the regulated use of disruptive technologies, Dhankhar underscored their transformative potential while cautioning against unregulated proliferation.
