Maha: MoU signed for developing Thorium Nuclear Reactor

Mumbai, Apr 11(UNI) A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Friday between Mahagenco, Russia's Rosatom (ROSATOM) government company for the development of Thorium Nuclear Reactor at the Sahyadri Guest House in the presence of State Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
An official media statement stated that, the main objective of this MoU is to jointly develop Thorium Reactor in Maharashtra, commercialise Thorium Reactor as per the safety norms of Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB), and set up an assembly line for Thorium Reactor under the "Make in Maharashtra" initiative.
Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) will provide strategic support for the joint development of Small Modular Reactor with Thorium Fuel.
