Malda, Apr 23 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday slammed West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of opposing granting Indian citizenship to the refugees - Hindu, Buddhists, Christians and Sikhs - now settled here after arriving from neighbouring Bangladesh.
Addressing a gathering after completing a massive roadshow in favour of BJP candidate for Malda Dakshin (south) Sreerupa Mitra Chowdhury, Shah saud none can prevent granting Indian (CAA)
citizenship to those Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and
Christians.
He said the alleged corruption in the state was rampant and
development funds were siphoned off and even Rs 50 to Rs 75 crore have been seized from the state ministers' houses in Bengal.
Shah urged the people to vote in favour of the "Lotus" symbol, saying this would go to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure his third term for the NDA government at the Centre.
He also reminded the people that in the 2019 Lok Sabha poll BJP
candidate from Malda Dakshin lost by a mere 5000 votes but this time the electors must press the "Lotus" button on May 7 and ensure win for Sreerupa Mitra Chowdhury by over 50,000 votes.
Shah appealed to the voters in West Bengal to ensure the BJP's win in at least 30 seats out of 42 Lok Sabha seats in the state.
Earlier, Shah along with the candidate on a open hooded truck conducted a roadshow where thousands of BJP supporters defying the heat and scorching sun took part.
