Junta airstrikes persist in Chin State amid relief operations for quake victims

Aizawl, Apr 6 (UNI) Even as earthquake relief operations intensify in Myanmar’s southern Chin State bordering Mizoram, the country’s military junta continues to launch airstrikes on civilian areas, drawing strong condemnation from anti-junta Chin groups who are calling for an immediate halt to aerial attacks during humanitarian efforts.
A massive consignment of relief materials—totalling 65 metric tonnes—was flown to Lengpui Airport near Aizawl on Tuesday by a C-17 Globemaster Aircraft of the Indian Air Force. The supplies, which included rice, drinking water, medicines, water filters, and tents, were swiftly offloaded and transported to Zokhawthar village in Champhai district along the India–Myanmar border by the Assam Rifles using several trucks.
Dr Sui Khar, Foreign Minister of the Chinland government (also known as the Chinland Council), said that they had informed relevant organisations and local authorities within Chin State to ensure that humanitarian aid for earthquake victims is allowed safe passage.
