Gahirmatha sanctuary personnel arrest 17 fishermen for fishing inside No fishing zone

Kendrapara, Apr 2 (UNI) Gahirmatha Sanctuary personnel arrested 17 fishermen including two from West Bengal for fishing inside the no-fishing zone in the wee hours of Tuesday.
Gahirmatha Marine Sanctuary Ranger, Pradosh Moharana, said the forest personnel seized 3 VHF sets, one fish finder, and three fishing nets from the possessions of the arrested fishermen.
The Ranger said since the mass nesting of endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles is imminent, the forest personnel have intensified sea patrolling within the sanctuary to provide a congenial atmosphere for the endangered species by restricting trawler fishing in the no-fishing zone.

Patna, May 7 (UNI) Despite all efforts of the Election Commission and other stalwarts to attract the voters to the booths to exercise their franchise, polling in the third phase of the elections in five seats namely Jhanjharpur, Supaul , Araria, Madhepura and Khagaria in Bihar had marginal increase of 1.42 percent compared to the second phase of the polling but was still 1.22 percent less than the last Lok Sabha elections held in 2019 in the same five constituencies.

Kolkata, May 7 (UNI) Reacting to the Supreme Court order for interim stay on Calcutta High Court's decision, which declared the entire panel of 2016 SSC teachers' recruitment null and void, the BJP on Tuesday said, " Our stand remains the same for justice to the qualified candidates" in the alleged recruitment scam.
