Jammu: Always remain on front foot., Shah tells BJP MLAs

Jammu, Apr 6 (UNI) Chairing a meeting of BJP MLAs of Jammu and Kashmir, Union Home Minister here on Sunday asked them to further strengthen the cadre and always play on the front foot.
Shah is on a three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.
Soon after his arrival at Jammu where he was received by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Union MoS in PMo Dr Jitendra Singh at the airport, Shah left for the Raj Bhawan.
The Union Minister at 8:25 PM reached the Trikuta Nagar based BJP Headquarter and held a threadbare meeting for around two hours.
Former J&K BJP president and senior leader Ravinder Raina after the meeting here told reporters that the Minister has taken a detailed review from all the party MLAs.
“Amit Shah has told the leaders to further strengthen the cadre at the grass-root level,” he said, adding that he also discussed the prevailing security situation and assured stern action against the terrorism.
MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia said, “all the MLAs raised the concerns of their respective constituencies. Nothing much was discussed on the Waqf Bill but statehood was discussed and it has been made clear that it is already promised on the floor of the House in the Parliament that it will be restored but at an appropriate time.”
“The cadre has been asked to play on the “front foot” particularly with regard to the ongoing Legislative Assembly session resuming from tomorrow,” Mankotia said.
He said Shah also got feedback about the budget session and other developments taking place on the political front.
The Legislative Assembly session will resume on April 7 after a 12-day break and is scheduled to adjourn sine-die on April 9.
Shah on Monday (April 7) will visit the international border in Kathua and in the afternoon, he will meet at the Raj Bhawan the families of the police personnel martyred in the Rajbagh (Kathua) terrorist attack at Raj Bhawan.
He will then proceed to Srinagar late afternoon on the same day.
The Home Minister will chair two crucial security review meetings in the Valley of Unified Headquarters and annual pilgrimage of Shri Amarnath yatra starting from July 3 and concluding on August 9.
Shah will also be dedicating a number of multi-crore projects to the people of the Union Territory through virtual inauguration and foundation stone laying ceremony, they added.
The Home Minister will return to New Delhi on April 8.
Meanwhile tight security arrangements were made in Jammu during Shah's visit with the additional deployment of police personnel.
