Karna CM's advisor clarifies, says did not target any govt

Bengaluru, Apr 9 (UNI) In the eye of a political storm over his statement branding Karnataka as the "No. 1 state in corruption," Basavaraj Rayareddi, the Economic Advisor to state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, on Wednesday sought to clarify his stance, asserting that his remarks were not directed at any specific government but reflected a deeper malaise that demands immediate attention.
"I have not targeted any particular government," Rayareddi told reporters, standing by his controversial comment. "But this issue needs urgent attention. Karnataka is being branded as one of the most corrupt states, and that is a matter of deep concern."
The veteran legislator made these observations while addressing officials during a meeting of the State Imbalance Committee for Digital Development at the Koppal Deputy Commissioner's office. He alleged that despite substantial budgetary allocations over the years, actual development on the ground remained shoddy and substandard.
