One killed in Manipur clash

Imphal, April 28 (UNI) A person was killed in Manipur while three others injured in a clash between two ethnic groups here on Sunday in Kangchup.
Fresh violence erupted again after a lull for some time as heavily armed suspected Kuki militants launched attacks at various places. Two Central Reserve Police Force personnel died on Saturday in an attack by suspected Kuki militants.
Hundreds of people came out at Kangchup, Phayeng, Leimakhong areas here as suspected Kuki militants released videos of their cadres moving towards Imphal areas to attack people. The villagers said they could not go out from their homes as militants were firing towards them from the hill areas.
Farming activities were also halted since May 3, 2023 due to the clashes.
Women who kept vigil on the roads said there will be no peace until the hill areas were sanitised. Few bunkers built by Kuki militants to attack people of another ethnic group were also demolished on Saturday by a combined force after attack on CRPF.
